About
The 28th Jeongdong Culture Festival, hosted by the Kyunghyang Shinmun newspaper, takes place October 16–17 around Jeongdong-gil in Jung-gu, Seoul. This street, running from the Kyunghyang Shinmun building past the Seoul Museum of Art to Daehanmun Gate at Deoksugung Palace, was once the center of diplomacy, culture, and education during the Korean Empire era, a place where long history and new culture still meet. This year's theme, 'Neo-Jeongdong: Pan,' reimagines that history and tradition in a contemporary way. Over the two days, the street hosts a parade reinterpreting traditional Korean performing arts and shows by contemporary musicians working with gugak (traditional Korean music), along with straw-decorated installations and food and drink stalls that turn the whole street into one big stage.
