Chilgok Nakdonggang Peace Festival

The Chilgok Nakdong River Peace Festival honors the historic Battle of Nakdong River, the Korean War's final line of defense, and keeps the spirit of national protection alive. It offers a range of programs to remember the values that ordinary people risked their lives to protect in 1950, and to thank those who defended the country. Now in its 13th year in 2026, the festival features peace-themed performances, hands-on activities, and food programs. Under the slogan "A Boy Becomes a Boy Soldier," it also highlights the often-overlooked young boy soldiers who stood in the shadow of the more widely recognized student soldiers, with special programs to honor their memory and deepen the festival's historical and peace-oriented message.
