Dongdaemun Gu Buk Festival

The 2026 Dongdaemun-gu Book Festival is a reading-culture event held in September, Korea's Reading Month, to spark residents' interest in reading and support the local reading culture. This year's theme, "Book Calendar Field — Open a Book, Move Your Body!", goes beyond quiet reading to offer a variety of hands-on programs that combine books with physical activity for the whole family to enjoy together. At the Future Plaza in front of Dongdaemun-gu Office, visitors can try "Reading Fitness" (reading while moving your body), "Books Read with the Body" (acting out folk tales as play), and an outdoor library for reading and reflection. Inside the multipurpose hall, the Dongdaemun-gu library network runs booth activities such as "Book Calendar Adventure Team," "Challenge! Library Mini Sports Day," "Reading Health Checkup," and "Dapsimni Motors." The festival also features a reading-promotion musical for children, a bubble show, busking performances, and more, offering plenty to see and enjoy for all visitors.
