About
The Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival celebrates Namsadang Nori, a traditional performance art recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It carries on the artistic spirit of Baudeogi, the first female troupe leader (kkokdusoe) in the Joseon era, and the flair of Anseong's own Namsadang performers. The festival recreates the lively atmosphere of an old Joseon-era marketplace — one of the three great markets of the country back then — alongside traditional culture experiences, Korean and international traditional performances, and folk shows from abroad, offering something for visitors of all ages. Highlights include up-close tightrope walking and Namsadang Nori performances, letting visitors vividly experience the charm of Korean tradition through a blend of classic and contemporary shows. Combining history, culture, performance, and tourism, the festival has become a cultural tourism event enjoyed by both domestic and international visitors, and continues to grow as one of Korea's leading traditional culture festivals.
