About
The Jinju Namgang Lantern Festival traces back to the Imjin War, when lanterns were floated on the Namgang River to block Japanese forces from crossing and to let soldiers send word home to their families. Designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as one of Korea's representative festivals, it has also been named a Korea Global Festival for five straight years, making it a world-class event that has carried Korea's festival culture abroad.
