About
Designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a Korea Honorary Representative Cultural Tourism Festival, the Gimje Horizon Festival is the only one built around traditional farming culture, centered on Byeokgolje, Korea's oldest and largest ancient reservoir. Set against a backdrop of vast golden fields and a wide-open horizon, it features Korea's first National Farmers' Music Competition for the President's Cup, along with hands-on programs like cooking rice in a traditional hearth, catching grasshoppers, harvesting rice, and threshing, letting visitors experience farming culture directly. Traditional folk events are also part of the fun, including the Twin Dragon Play based on the legend of Byeokgolje and a standing tug-of-war held to pray for a good harvest, both open for visitors to join in person.
