As the first coffee festival ever held by a local government in Korea, this is Gangneung's signature festival, drawing over 300,000 visitors each year, including coffee professionals and enthusiasts, to the city known as Korea's coffee capital. Coffee has grown beyond a simple drink to become a culture in its own right, and the Gangneung Coffee Festival (GCF) plays a leading role in shaping that coffee culture.
