Jeongjohyo Cultural Festival

About

Held around Jeongjo Hyo Culture Park, the Jeongjo Hyo Culture Festival is Hwaseong City's flagship historical and cultural festival, combining historical value with family-friendly activities. Visitors can enjoy various performances and traditional hands-on programs. The highlight is the Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon reenactment, an epic depiction of King Jeongjo moving his father Crown Prince Sado's tomb to Yungneung in Hwaseong—renowned as the best auspicious site in Joseon—symbolizing the king's deep filial devotion. On October 4, the King Jeongjo Royal Procession recreates the 1795 Eulmyo Wonhaeng journey, departing from Dongtan Central Park in a grand parade that blends tradition and modernity into a colorful spectacle. Taking place in Hwaseong, a city renowned for both its legendary auspicious geography and its devotion to filial piety, this festival offers a special time where history, culture, and family come together.
