Muan Mudflat Festival
무안 황토 갯벌축제
About
The Muan Mud Flat Festival is an eco-experience festival held on Muan's UNESCO World Heritage-listed tidal flats under the theme "The Tidal Flat Is Alive." It celebrates the ecological value and quality of Muan's ochre-colored mud flats — Korea's very first designated wetland protection area — and uses hands-on activities and cultural events to share the idea of nature and people coexisting on the tidal flats. The festival site, Muan Hwangto Getbol Land, features Korea's longest wooden footbridge over water at 1.5 km, the Muan Tidal Flat Exploration Bridge, along with ecological facilities, making it a place where you can experience the flats and the sea up close. During the festival, expect tidal flat-themed hands-on programs, cultural events, exhibitions, and performances, with plenty of activities suited for families. By connecting the conservation value of the World Heritage-listed Muan tidal flats with the region's ecological and cultural resources, the festival aims to promote sustainable eco-tourism and boost local culture.
