Chungju Heritage Night Tour

About

The 2026 Chungju National Heritage Night Tour runs for three days, from September 4 to 6, 2026, around Gwana Park in Chungju (21 Gwana 1-gil, Chungju). The festival reinterprets Chungju's historical role as the capital of Jungwongyeong and the seat of the Joseon-era Chungcheong provincial government office, connecting it to heritage sites in the park like Cheongnyeongheon and Jegeumdang. The goal is to share Chungju's history while bringing new energy to the old downtown area. The program is built around eight night themes (the "8-ya"): night view, night streets, night history, night art, night stories, night food, night stay, and night market. Visitors can explore the history-filled streets under the lit-up night scenery of Gwana Park, take part in heritage experience activities, meet local artisans, and enjoy traditional performances and folk plays based on historical figures and local legends staged throughout the venue. There's also a food zone recreating an old-style market, a pop-up market with local craft artists, and tie-in programs with nearby accommodations and shops — all designed to give visitors a taste of Jungwon culture and a unique night-time sightseeing experience.
