Sunchang Jangnyu Festival

This festival celebrates Korea's sauce-making culture being registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and marks the 20th anniversary of the Jangnyu Festival itself. As Korea's leading fermented food festival, it aims to establish Sunchang's identity as the home of traditional fermented sauces and showcase the excellence of K-food to the world. About 50 programs across eight categories include hands-on experiences with traditional sauces, cultural performances, and exhibitions and sales, where visitors can taste spicy, savory dishes made with Sunchang gochujang (red pepper paste). Highlights include the "Sunchang Gochujang Royal Tribute Procession" performance and unique hands-on programs like "Fermentation Nation 1997" and "Boil, Pound, and Make Meju" (soybean lumps). To mark the 20th anniversary, this year's festival also features special events such as "Find the Golden Meju" and discount sales on jangnyu products under the theme "You and I, Coming of Age."
