Welcome to Singwan-dong

Welcome to Singwan-dong is a street festival centered on youth culture, held around Daehangno Street in Singwan-dong, Gongju. It's part of Gongju City and the Gongju Culture and Tourism Foundation's cultural city project, aiming to build Singwan-dong into a hub for young people's culture while boosting the local cultural scene and commercial district. Running since 2022 as a street-performance-focused festival, it has gradually expanded to include a busking competition, street performances, a beer festa, a flea market, and hands-on programs. In 2025, the festival built up the 'Welcome to Singwan-dong' brand with street signage, sculptures, and navigation app listings, and for 2026 the goal is a sustainable festival model run in partnership with residents, merchants, universities, and young people. The 2026 festival will take place from October 9 to 11 around Singwan-dong's Daehangno Street, featuring a main stage show, nationwide street performances, performances by local youth and young performers, programs tied to local businesses, and a local currency coupon event. It's also planned to connect with the Baekje Cultural Festival to encourage visitors to stay longer and to help revitalize the culture and economy of the Singwan-dong area.
